How Fights Get Started

One year I decided to buy my mother-in-law a cemetery lot as a Christmas gift.

The next year, I didn't buy her a gift. When she asked me why, I replied,

"Well, you still haven't used the gift I bought you last year!"

And that's how the fight started.

--------------------------------

My wife walked into the den & asked "What's on the TV?"

I replied "Dust"
And that's how the fight started.

--------------------------------

My wife was standing nude, looking in the bedroom mirror.

She was not happy with what she saw and said, 'I feel horrible; I look old, fat and ugly.
I really need you to pay me a compliment.

I replied, 'Your eyesight's very near perfect.'
And that's how the fight started.

--------------------------------

My wife was hinting about what she wanted for our upcoming anniversary.

She said, 'I want something shiny that goes from 0 to 200 in about 3 seconds.

I bought her a scale.

And that's how the fight started.

--------------------------------

I asked my wife, 'Where do you want to go for our anniversary?'

It warmed my heart to see her face melt in sweet appreciation.

'Somewhere I haven't been in a long time!' she said..

So I suggested, 'How about the kitchen?'
And that's how the fight started.

--------------------------------

My wife and I are watching Who Wants To Be A Millionaire while we were in bed.

I turned to her and said, 'Do you want to make love?'

'No,' she answered.

I then said, 'Is that your final answer?'

She didn't even look at me this time, simply saying 'Yes.'

So I said, 'Then I'd like to phone a friend.'
And that's how the fight started.

-------------------------------------------

I tried to talk my wife into buying a case of Miller Light for $14.95.

Instead, she bought a jar of cold cream for $7.95.

I told her the beer would make her look better at night than the cold cream.

And that's how the fight started.

--------------------------------

I took my wife to a restaurant. The waiter, for some reason, took my order first.

'I'll have the strip steak, medium rare, please.'

He said, 'Aren't you worried about the mad cow?'

'Nah, she can order for herself.'
AND THAT'S HOW FIGHTS GET STARTED!!

Etsyblogger Blog Carnival - Birthday Memory

1) Tell about your favorite birthday memory, gift or wish...

Birthdays for me are all about spending time with those I love and who have impacted my life. I don’t need a bunch of gifts or even a huge party. It is the time of sharing and laughing that I love most!

One of my more encouraging celebrations was at a restaurant with a ton of my friends. We had buffet lunch, laughed and talked, all of my friends (some tearfully) shared about me. I in turn shared with each person the impact they had on my life. It is because of the culmination of friendships that I am the woman that I am today! Those kind of birthday memories and gifts are simply priceless and irreplaceable!

Quote: Remember, the greatest gift is not found in a store nor under a tree, but in the hearts of true friends.

Etsyblogger Blog Carnival - Fairy Tale

What is your favorite fairy tale? Any parallels to real life?

You know I really did not have an absolute favorite fairy tale but I love Cinderella's story. I loved that she was a young lady of noble character, a good spirit and a humble heart in spite of being

continually abused and mistreated by her Step mother and step sisters! She always kept her spirits up and I don't recall EVER hearing her complain about her circumstances. I always wondered where her slack father was though! Looks like Step mom ran the show and HIM! I loved that she got to go to the ball after all wearing a beautiful dress, gorgeous glass slippers and got to ride in that lovely carriage. I wanted those slippers by the way! LOL! In the end, good won over the mean spirited and cruel and she got her charming Prince. You can not ask for much more than that.

There are a number of parallel to real life one could make.
  • Good in the long run prevails.
  • Treat people like you want to be treated - Cinderella did
  • Never give up! Good things come to those who persevere
  • Never give up on your dreams no matter what the naysayers do or say!
  • Love in spite of!
  • See the good in all circumstances and know there is a light at the end of the tunnel
  • Sing and dance a lot
  • It is not where you start but where you finish and I would say Cinderella finished strong!!

Thought Provoking

THE BUZZARD:
If you put a buzzard in a pen that is 6 feet by 8 feet and is entirely open at the top, the bird, in spite of its ability to fly, will be an absolute prisoner. The reason is that a buzzard always begins a flight from the ground with a run of 10 to 12 feet. Without space to run, as is its habit, it will not even attempt to fly, but will remain a prisoner for life in a small jail with no top.
THE BAT:
The ordinary bat that flies around at night, a remarkable nimble creature in the air, cannot take off from a level place. If it is placed on the floor or flat ground, all it can do is shuffle about helplessly and, no doubt, painfully, until it reaches some slight elevation from which it can throw itself into the air. Then, at once, it takes off like a flash.
THE BUMBLEBEE:
A bumblebee, if dropped into an open tumbler, will be there until it dies, unless it is taken out. It never sees the means of escape at the top, but persists in trying to find some way out through the sides near the bottom. It will seek a way where none exists, until it completely destroys itself.
PEOPLE:
In many ways, we are like the buzzard, the bat, and the bumblebee. We struggle about with all our problems and frustrations, never realizing that all we have to do is look up! That's the answer, the escape route and the solution to any problem! Just look up.
Sorrow looks back, Worry looks around, But faith looks up!
Live simply, love generously, care deeply, speak kindly and trust in our Creator who loves us.

Have a great day
